GENEActiv Protocol
Lightweight, waterproof, wrist-worn accelerometers are scientifically validated and suitable for numerous free-living and clinical trial applications. All GENEActiv actigraphy devices output raw data, whilst the leading technical design ensures reliability and complete peace of mind that you will get the data you need.

Setting up
1. GENEActiv station to any USB port on your computer

2. Charge GENEActiv by putting the device in the station as shown in Figure 2 (four connection points on the right side of the device should be downward)

3. Open GENEActiv PC software by double-clicking on the icon shown in Figure 3

4. Wait until the window of the software appears (see Figure 4). The battery and memory status can be seen on the topmost right corner of the application. Also, two LEDs (one red for charging and the one green for charged) on GENEActiv show the battery status.

5. To configure GENEActiv, click on Config. Setup

6. Measurement frequency should be set based on study requirements

7. Since GENEActiv station can configure up to four devices simultaneously, either all or any of those devices should be selected from the most bottom right corner section of the application

8. To start configuring connected and selected devices, click on Erase & Configure button

9. A warning message appears to inform about the process about to start

11. If the configuration process is successful, the following message will be shown

Data Extraction
1. To extract data from GENEActiv, follow steps one to four in Setting Up section, and then click on Data Extractor

2. Click on browse to save extracting data

3. Select Z:\Research\dfuller\Walkabilly\studies\{StudyName}\GENEActiv\BIN_files as path and {StudyName}_{DeviceID}_{Date} {Time}.bin as name and click Save

4. Click on Start Extract to commence data extraction from GENEActiv

5. If the extraction process is successful, the following message will be shown

1. To convert the extracted data into CSV file, follow steps one to four in Setting Up section and steps one to five in Data Extraction section, click on Data Converter and then CSV Converter

2. Click on Browse to select source BIN file

3. Go to Z:\Research\dfuller\Walkabilly\studies\{StudyName}\GENEActiv\BIN_files and select the required BIN file and click on Open

4. Click on the second Browse for choosing destination path

5. Select Z:\Research\dfuller\Walkabilly\studies\{StudyName}\GENEActiv\CSV_files as path and {StudyName}_{DeviceID}_{Date} {Time}.csv as name and click Save

6. Click on Start Convert to initiate the process
